I have owend the following RVs:

  1. Travel Trailer

  2. 5th Wheel

  3. Class C

  4. Class A (Gas)

  5. Class A (Diesel) which is what we have now.

There have been good and bad with all of them that we have owned. I will tell you which ones I think are good and the ones that gave us the most problems (this is our own opion as other RVers may or may not had problems). We have been doing this since 1999. I am by no means an expert on telling you which one to look at or buy. I am just trying to guide you in the right direction on what to look for and what to avoide.

When purchasing your RV keep these things in mind.

  1. Don't settle for anything that you won't be happy with (size, comfort, sleeping capacity and etc).

  2. Don't go over your budget as the dealer does not care if you can afford it or not.

  3. Shop around, you will find that different dealers charge a different price for the same year, model and make of the RV (there are so many dealers in each state).

  4. Do your homework on the dealer as service plays the biggest part of your RV (some don't care or just are too busy to deal with you after purchase).

  5. If the sales person tells you that the RV you are looking at won't be on the lot very long, he is being a salesman. The manufacture did not make only that one, there are many dealers through out the US (you can always special order one as well).

  6. Make sure everything works before leaving dealer with your RV.

  7. Ask as many questions as you can think of.

  8. If buying a travel trailer/5th wheel/toy hauler, make sure the vehicle you have is capable of towing it.

  9. Storing or parking you RV on your property or storage facility (keep in mind you will pay a monthly fee for a storage lot).

  10. Extra cost including maintenance, tires, food, gas/diesel, cleaning supplies, and much more.

  11. And yes, no matter what you buy something is going to break (it is a house on wheels).

  12. It does not matter what king of RV you are looking to purchase; it just matters that you are happy and have a great time while doing it.
